The following is the first of several posts in a series that I call "Survivor - Mom Edition." I originally wrote these as Facebook posts in November 2010, as an outlet while my husband was away on an unexpected trip. People occasionally ask me where to find the "Survivor" stories, and I hope they will be more accessible on this blog. Enjoy!
Spent yesterday getting settled into the island after hubby flew out. Night was quiet…natives stayed in their own camps.
Challenges for today: Get three natives up, dressed, groomed, fed, and largest one to school on time, with all required supplies. Accost school’s tribe leader to get details about large school event I am to organize. Get home before Small Native screams for second breakfast. Naps, lunch, pick up from school, acquire new glasses for Large Native and get her to wear them, dinner, bed…who knows what else?!
I am told that an additional resource will be taken away from me at Tribal Council tonight. Pray that it is not my coffee. My coffee is decaf while Small Native is nursing, but I still need the mental buzz…
Side note: So this is what the world looks like at 6:15am? Not a fan. Since I have time to write this, clearly I got up too early this morning. Tomorrow I will be sure to sleep in later. That will not backfire.
Off to enjoy the last moments of silence before screaming commences…
